Consolidated Plan Annual Performance Report - FY 99 -00 <br /> City of San Leandro <br /> Page 10 <br /> Priority #9: Priority Community Development - Capital Improvement Projects <br /> Resources Used: <br /> The City applied CDBG funds to capital improvement projects to further this activity. <br /> Activities Undertaken: <br /> Capital improvement projects included the cost of acquisition, construction, or rehabilitation <br /> of neighborhood facilities and improvements. The City funded facility improvements to five <br /> non- profit agencies in the last year: San Leandro Shelter for Women and Children (SLSWC), <br /> Stepping Stones, San Leandro Boys and Girls Club, Emergency Shelter Program (ESP), and <br /> Davis Street Community Center. <br /> The SLSWC received City and County of Alameda CDBG funds for the purchase of a single - <br /> family, 2 -unit house for its safe house operation. The City's CDBG purchase allocation was <br /> supplemented by a redevelopment housing set -aside rehabilitation loan for accessibility and <br /> • general improvement, completed this year. <br /> The Davis Street Community Center completed the acquisition of the Agency -owned vacant <br /> lot on Davis Street, for the construction of a new facility. The Davis Street Community <br /> Center is embarking on a fund raising campaign w raise the balance of funds needed for the <br /> construction phase. <br /> The ADA Parks and Playgrounds project, approved in FY 1996 -97 and carried over from <br /> previous program years, was completed. Funds left in the account represent the final project <br /> management expenses to be drawn down. The project, which consisted of accessibility <br /> improvements at the Marina Park playground, received an additional $60,000 CDBG <br /> allocation for construction cost increases. <br /> The San Leandro Boys and Girls Club, ESP and Stepping Stones projects will be carried over <br /> to FY 2000-01. <br /> Geographic Distribution: <br /> With the exception of the ESP shelter, all facilities and projects are located within the City of <br /> San Leandro and they all serve San Leandro residents. <br /> Matching Contributions: <br /> N/A <br /> • <br />
