CONTINUANCE OF MATTERS <br /> 1) When five (5) or less — fewer members of the Council are present at the <br /> scheduled meeting, a request for a continuance may be made once in order <br /> that the matter may be scheduled for a time when more than five (5) members <br /> are expected to be present. <br /> 2) Requests for continuance when there are five (5) or fewer members present <br /> shall be granted unless State law or local regulations require that action be <br /> taken at that time. <br /> 3) Regardless of the number of Council Members present, or request of a <br /> member of the public, any Council Member may exercise a personal privilege <br /> to have an item continued once unless State law or local regulations require <br /> that action be taken at that time. This privilege is not to be taken lightly. <br /> 4) If a matter is continued, the Presiding Officer will ask if those present who <br /> wish to speak to the matter can return at a later date. Those individuals who <br /> cannot will be given the opportunity to speak on the matter and said <br /> comments shall be made part of the record to be considered at the continued <br /> date; however, further comment shall be allowed where new material is <br /> presented. <br /> CONTINUED MATTERS. COUNCIL MEMBER OBLIGATION <br /> When a member of Council is absent from an earlier meeting at which a matter is <br /> discussed, it shall be the duty of such member to become acquainted with the issues <br /> discussed by reading the minutes, the documents presented, and, if possible, listening to <br /> the taped- recording of such discussion. <br /> • <br /> IX - 2 <br />
