MINUTES Page 9 <br /> City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting — January 18, 2011 <br /> D. City Manager Recruitment Process. <br /> Mr. Hollister reviewed the recommended action to appoint a three -member City <br /> Council ad hoc committee to select a recruiter to handle the City Manager recruitment <br /> process. <br /> Councilmember Prola stated that he feels the process could be expedited by selecting <br /> the firm of William Avery and Associates to handle the recruitment, as the City has <br /> used them for other recent recruitments. <br /> Councilmember Cutter noted that if the process includes public input, the schedule <br /> seems ambitious. She stated that she feels this is an important position that should <br /> include public input. <br /> Councilmember Starosciak stated that assigning a timeline is difficult. She expressed <br /> concem about rushing the decision to select a recruiter, and would like to consider other <br /> options. <br /> Vice Mayor Reed asked Mr. Hollister to address confidentiality issues with regard to <br /> community input. Mr. Hollister stated that community input could be solicited <br /> regarding the attributes of an ideal candidate, and a small group of community members <br /> could participate in the selection process, provided there is strict adherence to <br /> confidentiality. <br /> Councilmember Gregory stated that he feels the timeline is overly ambitious if <br /> community input is incorporated, and expressed interest in having the ad hoc committee <br /> formed tonight. <br /> Mayor Cassidy stated that he is uncomfortable with trying to make the recruiter <br /> selection tonight, and suggested that the City issue a Request for Proposals. <br /> Mayor Cassidy announced that he would form the ad hoc committee, and asked for <br /> volunteers among the Council would be interested in serving on the committee. <br /> • Minute Order No. 2011 - 005, Motion Approving the Formation of a 3 -Member <br /> City Council Ad Hoc Committee to Develop the City Manager Recruitment <br /> Process. <br /> The City Council approved the appointment of 3 members of the City <br /> Council to a City Council ad hoc committee to develop the City Manager <br /> recruitment process. <br /> M/S /C Reed and Prola. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br /> Mayor Cassidy appointed Councilmember Souza, Vice Mayor Reed, and himself to the <br /> Ad Hoc Committee to Develop the City Manager Recruitment Process. <br />
