Unfortunately, potential <br /> legislation on the State level has also threatened a substantial amount of San Leandro's local <br /> funding for economic development and affordable housing. This report provides an update on <br /> major projects as well as several other developments in the City. <br /> r i - `stk /.rt r • s _�� r t.Y„'y', p.'5 4',it+.rc'k i y�C i. - •w ,t •; a t r <br /> Mayor Projecttipdates ' <br /> • Shoreline Development Update: On March 21, 2011 the results of a Harbor Basin <br /> Alternative Study were presented to the City Council at a work session. At the end of the <br /> work session, the City Council referred the issue of the future of the boat harbor basin to the <br /> Shoreline Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC). The Council requested the Shoreline CAC <br /> work with developer Cal-Coast to evaluate the financial feasibility of the latest design <br /> concept and one or more of the harbor basin alternatives. <br /> A schedule for near term Shoreline CAC meetings is as follows: <br /> April 20, 2011 Presentation of the Harbor Basin Alternative Study results <br /> May 18, 2011 Discussion of the Financial Feasibility Study <br /> June 15, 2011 Further Discussion of the Financial Feasibility Study and <br /> Recommendation to the City Council <br /> • Beginning November 1, 2011, Paramedics Plus will be managing 9 -1 -1 emergency medical <br /> ambulance services to Alameda County from its new executive and administrative offices at <br /> 575 Marina Boulevard in San Leandro. The company's new base will be home to <br /> approximately 375 jobs. Additionally, having the 9 -1 -1 base located in the City will result in <br /> faster response times and reduced service costs for San Leandro. <br /> a i:vfl 2 t ^IC?' ; s r M' a Yn T � f. Y St�.S "u" • ` t L j • :Y .' _ <br /> Redevelopment:and Buslne ss.Development • <br /> • In January, the Governor released a proposal to balance the State budget that includes the <br /> elimination of all redevelopment agencies statewide. If approved, the elimination of <br /> redevelopment funding would have a devastating impact on San Leandro's business <br /> development and affordable housing programs. Staff has been working with the City Council <br /> and the Finance Committee to provide regular updates on this proposal. Thus far, the <br /> governor has not been able to secure enough votes in the State Legislature to approve this <br /> action, however staff continues to monitor developments and has prepared a contingency <br /> budget so that the City will be prepared for all possible scenarios. <br /> • <br /> 11 <br />
