FOR THE ROOF REPLACEMENT AND ACCESSORIES (YEAR 3) <br /> PROJECT, PROJECT NO. 09- 687 -18 -104. <br /> SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br /> Staff recommends award of contract to the low bidder, State Roofing Systems, Inc. in the amount <br /> of $195,608 for the subject project. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> A roof survey was conducted in 2006 to evaluate the condition of all roofs on City - owned <br /> buildings. Each roof was assessed and a plan for repair or replacement, along with cost <br /> estimates, was developed. The roofs requiring repair or replacement were grouped into separate <br /> program years for budgetary reasons. In 2008, roof repairs at the Marina Community Center and <br /> the Public Safety Building were completed as part of Year 1. Year 2 construction, which <br /> included roof repair or replacement at the Main Library's Karp Room, Fire Station #12, and <br /> several buildings at the Public Works Services Center including Public Works <br /> Shipping/Receiving, Garage/Truck Bay, Electrical, and Landscape Buildings, was completed in <br /> 2009. <br /> Year 3 will replace the roof at the Helen Lawrence South Offices Building. This work will be <br /> coordinated with the replacement of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment <br /> being installed under the supervision of the Public Works Services Department. <br />
