•
COUNCILMEMBERS HANDBOOK APPENDIX U
CITY OF SAN LEANDRO
GUIDELINES REGARDING COUNCIL SUPPORT FOR OR
OPPOSITION TO BALLOT MEASURES
Purpose of the Guidelines:
The purpose of these guidelines is to describe the City Council's policy regarding support
for ballot measures on local, state or national matters.
Guidelines:
The City Council as a group will not adopt a formal position in favor of or in opposition
to ballot measures unless such ballot measure has a direct benefit to or impact on a
significant portion of the community of San Leandro or the City of San Leandro.
Council Members requesting City Council support or opposition to a measure shall first
receive consensus from the body to place said support or opposition on a future agenda
for Council discussion and consideration.
No public funds shall be used in any support for or opposition to any measure.
Nothing in these Guidelines is intended to discourage or inhibit individual council
members from expressing their individual support for or opposition to any ballot
measure.
(Adopted on October 4, 2010; Resolution 2010 -127) Page 1
