A sign which does not conform to <br /> the provisions of this ordinance except a sign, <br /> otherwise conforming hereto, which: <br /> (a) Exceeds the permitted face area; or <br /> (b) Has less than the minimum permitted overhead <br /> clearance above a passageway; or <br /> (c) Is a projecting sign with lateral support including <br /> • no more than two (2) guy wires of a maximum size of <br /> three - sixteenths (3 /16ths) inch each or <br /> (d) Is accessory to a use which becomes legal <br /> non - conforming as a result of amendment of the <br /> Zoning Ordinance. <br /> (Ordinance No. 75 -42, 8/11/75) <br /> (15) Off -Site Advertising Sign: A sign constructed solely <br /> for the purpose of installing changeable non- accessory <br /> advertising copy, other than a pedestrian advertising <br /> panel. (Ordinance No. 74 -63, 11/4/74) <br /> (15) Overhang: <br /> (a) The projection of a projecting sign or roof sign <br /> • <br /> beyond a building wall; <br /> (b) The projection of a freestanding sign over a public <br /> passageway or area within future right -of -way <br /> lines. (Ordinance :To. 72 -34, 6/12/72) <br /> (17) Passageway: Public or private passageway for vehicular <br /> or pedestrian traffic. <br /> (18) Pedestrian Advertising Panel: A freestanding, fixed or <br /> moveable structure incorporating two (2) or more <br /> replaceable panels for non - accessory advertising copy, <br /> located and designed primarily for viewing by <br /> pedestrians and not substantially legible from a public <br /> street.
