observation and testing of trenching and backfill in the vicinity of the Area 3 <br />improvements in the Contract Drawings. <br />• Foundation construction: Fugro will provide geotechnical services during foundation <br />construction, including observation of footing excavations and observation of ground <br />improvement operations (i.e. soil cement columns). <br />• Laboratory services: Fugro will perform in -house laboratory geotechnical tests in support <br />of earthwork observation and testing. For this task, Fugro has assumed they will perform <br />five 6 -inch mold compaction tests for baserock materials (ASTM D1557) and ten <br />compaction curve checkpoints. <br />• Office services: Fugro will provide the following office engineering services during <br />construction: 1) provide limited supplemental engineering and consultations with <br />Consultant, City, and Contractor as required during the course of construction; 2) respond <br />to contractor RFIs; 3) evaluate proposed import fill materials; 4) provide technical review <br />and document quality control; 5) prepare supplemental geotechnical engineering letters <br />and memoranda to address construction or design issues; 6) provide administrative <br />technical support for document preparation; and 7) provide a final letter as requested by <br />the City to confirm the observed construction was completed in general accordance with <br />the Contract Documents. <br />• Administration Control Building entry and laboratory: Fugro will provide part-time to <br />full -time observation of Bay Mud excavation and shoring operations, placement of fill <br />materials, and trench backfill. Fugro will be onsite to perform field nuclear gauge density <br />testing of compacted soil and sampling of construction materials such as lightweight <br />concrete and CLSM backfill.
