• Medical Trips: 1 — 2 rides/hour
2.2.7. Number and Type of Vehicles
• Shuttle Buses: (2) lift- equipped, 22 ambulatory passengers, 7 wheelchairs
• Medical Trips: (1) lift- equipped vehicle, sedan may be used for ambulatory trips
• Approximately 3% of the trips are for non - ambulatory passengers where a lift- equipped
vehicle is needed.
2.2.8. # of One -Way Passenger Trips (FY 2010 -11 Estimate):
• Shuttle Bus 480 /month
• Medical Trips 120 /month
• # Annual Passenger Trips (Shuttle, Medical): 7200
• The City's paratransit service was modified in FY 2010 -11. Shuttle ridership has dropped
over the prior year. It is hoped that the Flex Shuttle trip numbers will increase substantially.
2.3 DOOR -TO -DOOR SERVICE
Approximately 80% of all the currently enrolled participants require assistance to and from, as well as in
and out of, the vehicle. Therefore, it is expected that "door -to -door" service will be provided on an as
needed basis to both ambulatory and nonambulatory program participants. This means that limited stand-
by assistance is provided to passengers when necessary to help them safely get from their door way, into
and out of the vehicle, and to negotiate stairs, ramps, hills, doors and other obstacles that may be in their
way as they approach the doorway of their destination. This could include help carrying up to two (2)
grocery bags or small packages. Stand -by assistance must be provided in a manner that is respectful of
the passenger's dignity and independence while at the same time insuring their safety. Stand -by
assistance is also provided in a manner that does not put other passengers, who are waiting in the vehicle,
at risk of being harmed. Passengers, who are picked up or dropped off at an apartment complex or large
building where the doorway of their destination is not visible and easily accessible to the street, must make
arrangements to meet the driver at a main entrance that is more easily accessed by the driver.
2.4 ADJUSTMENTS TO SERVICE
The CITY and the CONTRACTOR may develop other service components or make adjustments to the
service as needs are identified and as resources allow. The CITY expects to work closely with the
CONTRACTOR on such modifications in order to provide efficient and responsive service. No operational
changes that affect trip- scheduling, hours of operation, response time or any other characteristic of the
service can be made by the CONTRACTOR without the prior written approval of the CITY.
IMPORTANT: Flex is an evolving service and the CONTRACTOR must be flexible and willing to problem
solve to modify the service to meet demand and maximize ridership.
2.5 SERVICE STANDARDS
2.5.1. Service Productivity
Non - Professional Services Agreement between July 1, 2011
City of San Leandro and MV Transportation, Inc — Exhibit A Page 4 of 16
