SECTION 1 - INTRODUCTION <br />1.1 <br />1.2 <br />1.3 <br />1.4 <br />1.5. <br />1.6 <br />1.7 <br />The County is designated as the Local Emergency Medical Service Agency (LEMSA) as <br />defined in the California Health and Safety Code Division 2.5, Section 1797.94 responsible <br />for establishing policies and procedures for the approval and designation of paramedic <br />service providers within its jurisdiction. <br />The County has established an Emergency Medical Service District (EM- 1983 -1) and has <br />entered into agreements with various Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers, both <br />public and private, to assure the availability of emergency medical response and <br />transportation services within the District. <br />The Contractor is willing to provide first response to requests for all medical calls as defined <br />by the algorithms in the Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS) protocols and as <br />approved by County EMS. As per MPDS and State regulations, call prioritization must be <br />determined under the direction of the Medical Director. <br />Contractor agrees to follow all medical and operational policies as defined in Alameda <br />County EMS policy manuals. <br />Contractors with First Responder Advanced Life Support ( FRALS) Units include the <br />agencies /cities listed below: <br />Alameda County Fire Department <br />11 FRALS <br />City of Newark Fire Department <br />3 FRALS <br />City of Union City Fire Department <br />4 FRALS <br />City of Dublin Fire Department <br />4 FRALS <br />City of San Leandro Fire Department <br />7 FRALS <br />City of Emeryville Fire Department <br />2 FRALS <br />City of Fremont Fire Department <br />13 FRALS <br />City of Hayward Fire Department <br />11 FRALS <br />City of Livermore Fire Department <br />5 FRALS <br />City of Oakland Fire Department <br />26 FRALS <br />City of Pleasanton Fire Department <br />5 FRALS <br />The number of authorized FRALSs to be funded will not change during the duration of this <br />agreement unless approved by Contractor and EMS Director, and funding is available. <br />Contractor has been authorized for 7FRALS units. <br />The parties hereby execute this single agreement which will constitute formal designation <br />of Contractor as an authorized provider of First Responder Advanced Life SupportServices <br />within the Alameda County EMS system under Health & Safety Code Section 1797.178, a <br />paramedic service provider agreement under Title 22 CCR Section 100167, and a written <br />
