The determination of the employee's eligibility for Catastrophic Sick Leave <br /> donation shall be at the employer's sole discretion and shall be final and non - <br /> gri evable. <br /> SECTION 12. WAGES <br /> A. From January 1, 1994 through December 31, 1995 there will be no general wage <br /> increase. <br /> • <br /> B. The differential between Firefighter and Fire Engineer classifications will be increased <br /> from 77c to 7.5 %, effective January 1, 1995. The differential between Fire Engineer <br /> and Fire Captain classifications will be increased from 12.5% to 137c, effective <br /> January 1, 1995. <br /> C. Upon written request of either party, no later than December 1., 1995, the <br /> Memorandum of Understanding shall be reopened with respect to salaries for all <br /> represented classifications, to be effective January 1, 1996. • <br /> D. EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN <br /> 1. Employees occupying positions under Items 8140, 8143, 8144, and 8146 shall <br /> be compensated an additional 2 -1/2' of the base salary as specified in <br /> Appendix A, for obtaining and maintaining all EMT -1 and EMT -D. <br /> 2. All employees hired on or after January 1, 1995 must possess and maintain <br /> valid EMT -1 and EMT -D certificates by the end of the probationary period, as <br /> a condition of continued employment. <br /> 3. Notwithstanding #1 and #2 herein, the following procedure shall apply to only <br /> those tenured employees who are not in compliance: <br /> a. The 2 -1/27% differential shall be discontinued and the employee shall be <br /> given an opportunity to re- certify. <br /> b. If an employee fails to re- certify as stated in 3a. above, the employee <br /> may be placed on a 40 -hour work week schedule for a period not to <br /> exceed six months, or until recertification has been accomplished. <br /> c. If an employee fails to re- certify within the six month period as stated <br /> in 3b. above, the employee may be subject to disciplinary action up to <br /> and including termination. <br /> E. PARAMEDIC COMPENSATION <br /> 1. Compensation: Effective September 15, 1994, an employee assigned by the <br /> Fire Chief or designee to perform the full range of firefighter- paramedic duties <br /> will receive additional compensation of 10':f of top step of the Firefighter salary <br /> range. Employees may not be compensated as Emergency Medical Technician <br /> -- 17 <br /> FIRE - 12 <br />
