• • <br /> SECTION 14. DEPARTMENT CONTRIBUTION TOWARD RETIREE HEALTH PLAN <br /> COVERAGE (Contd.) <br /> P.E.R.S. Plans: <br /> For coverage effective January 1, 1995, Department employees who have already retired or <br /> who thereafter retire, under the Public Employees' Retirement System and PERS' Health <br /> Benefits Program, will be entitled to a Department contribution for retirees up to a maximum <br /> of $171.81 per month for the 1994 -95 fiscal year. In no event shall the Fire Department's <br /> contribution for retiree coverage exceed the premium of the option selected. The <br /> Department's contribution for each retiree/annuitant shall thereafter be increased annually <br /> • by five percent (5%) of the monthly contribution for employees until such time as the <br /> contributions for active employees and retiree/annuitants with the same family status (single, <br /> two -party or family) are equal. <br /> SECTION 15. LONG TERM DISABILITY INSURANCE PLAN <br /> The Department shall pay an additional $12.00 in salary as specified in Appendix A of this <br /> Memorandum of Understanding to offset the cost of the firefighters participation in a <br /> long -term disability insurance plan through the California Association of Professional <br /> Firefighters. <br /> SECTION 16. PREMIUM CONDITIONS <br /> A. Employees specifically assigned on a temporary basis to a higher level position shall <br /> be compensated at the pay rate for the higher level position or a minimum of 57c, <br /> whichever is greater, after working in the higher level position for 24 hours per fiscal <br /> year. <br /> Effective January 1, 1995, employees so assigned shall be compensated as follows: <br /> 1. Employees permanently assigned to the classification of Firefighter when <br /> acting in the capacity of a Fire Engineer shall receive while so assigned, a <br /> pay differential of 7.5% above the acting employee's pernanent pay. A <br /> Firefighter acting as Captain shall receive 7.5' of top step Engineer as <br /> his/her acting pay premium. <br /> 2. Employees permanently assigned to the classification of Fire Engineer <br /> acting in the capacity of a Fire Captain shall receive while so assigned, a <br /> pay differential of 7.5% above the acting employee's permanent pay. <br /> 3. Employees permanently assigned to the classification of Fire Captain acting <br /> in the capacity of Fire Battalion Chief shall receive while so assigned, a pay <br /> differential of 9.57c above the acting employee's permanent pay. <br /> B. Payment for time worked on a temporary basis at a higher level will be made in no <br /> less than a 1/2 shift (12 hours) increment. Time worked at the higher level in less <br /> than 1/2 shift (12 hours) increments will be accumulated. <br /> C. Every effort must be made to assign persons on the Captain or Engineer established <br /> promotional lists so that there will be an eligible person stationed permanently on <br /> 186 FIRtE - 20 <br />
