• <br /> Appendix C <br /> Page 11 <br /> 1480 Promotional Examinations <br /> • <br /> All promotional examination's shall be competitive and shall be conducted in the same <br /> manner as open examinations except that admission to a promotional examination shall be - <br /> restricted to persons in the employ of the County who have served at least six months <br /> following regular appointment to the classifed service and who meet the published - <br /> • requirements for the examination. The Commission shall determine whether an examination <br /> shall be held on a promotional or open basis. <br /> 1492 Disposition of Papers and Records <br /> • <br /> Prescribed application forms of persons who fail to appear for the written test and <br /> examination records of candidates who fail to qualify in the written test shall be destroyed at <br /> any time after thirty days from the date of promulgation of the eligible list. Examination <br /> records of candidates who qualify in an examination shall be retained during the life of the <br /> eligible list or for 15 months, whichever is longer, and the examination records of each <br /> . appointee shall be filed in his permanent personnel folder. <br /> Following the period during which competitors may inspect their examination papers, <br /> and after their ratings in each part of the examination have been transferred to examination <br /> records, examination materials such as question booklets, answer sheets and work papers may <br /> be destroyed. but general qualification appraisal sheets and applications shall be retained at <br /> least 15 months from the date of the promulgation of the eligible list. <br /> APPOINTMENT <br /> 1744 Reinstatement Following Resignation <br /> On the request of the department head and approval of the Commission, a regularly <br /> appointed employee who resigned in good standing may, within three years after the effective • <br /> • date of his resignation, be reinstated in a position in the class from which he resigned or in <br /> a position in another class for which he may be eligible as determined by the Commission. <br /> Appointments by reinstatement following resignation are subject to the probationary period <br /> established for the class. <br /> • REDUCTION IN FORCE. LAY -OFF. RE- EMPLOYMENT. REINSTATEMENT <br /> 2000 Jurisdiction of Commission <br /> All Lay-offs and demotions in lieu thereof resulting from reduction in force in the <br /> classified service shall be made in accordance with these rules and the procedures established <br /> by the Commission for an orde reduction in force. <br /> 20•1 Jurisdiction of Department Head <br /> Whenever it becomes necessary to reduce the number of employees of a department, <br /> the department head shall determine the class(es) to be affected by the reduction, the number <br /> -- 206 <br /> Fl JtE - 40 <br />
