Computation of Fire Suppression Personnel • <br /> Accrual and Time Off for paid Leave <br /> • <br /> In order to provide that paid leave time accrued and taken <br /> of is generally related to scheduled duty time for Fire <br /> Department personnel assigned to positions listed as <br /> required to be continuously manned without regard to <br /> holidays and to provide for fair and consistent treatment <br /> of all City employees, paid leave accrual and time off for <br /> such personnel are calculated. on the following basis: . <br /> • Average number of duty hours per week hours of duty per. <br /> day = the average shifts of duty per week. <br /> • Average duty shifts per week average week factor) <br /> allowance factor. <br /> Allowance factor x the number of days paid leave allowance <br /> = paid leave shifts rounded to the nearest one - quarter <br /> shift, except for vacation and holiday accrual and time <br /> off, shifts rounded to the next higher one -half shift. <br /> Section 13. Holidays <br /> • 13.1 An e: _'_oyee assigned to a twenty -four (24) hour duty shift <br /> will be entitled to the following annual holiday <br /> entitlement. <br /> (1) Each employee will receive three (3) shifts off with <br /> pay in each calendar year; provided however said <br /> three shifts will be scheduled at the sale time and by <br /> the sarte procedure the Fire Department schedules the <br /> employee's vacation. <br /> • <br /> (2) Effective January 1, 1986, each employee will receive <br /> 'compensation in the amount of one and one -half (1 -1/2) <br /> tunes the employee's regular rate of pay for three and <br /> one -half (3 -1/2) shifts in each calendar year. Such <br /> compensation will be issued with the regular check to <br /> be paid on December 5th of each year. <br /> Should during the calendar year the employee request a <br /> trade of one of the above three scheduled shifts for <br /> another date, the employee may do so provided there are <br /> less than three (3) employees scheduled for vacation, <br /> holiday or accumulated time off for the date the employee <br /> requests to trade for and provided further that such a <br /> trade would not create an overtime situation for the Fire <br /> Department, including specific ranks; and, provided <br /> further, that the employee requests and receives approval <br /> from the Chief or designated representative for said trade <br /> at least twenty- four.(24) hours in advance of the date the <br /> - 2 3 4 -10- <br /> • <br />
