• • • <br /> Section 14. vacation Leave • <br /> 14.1 The time at which an employee shall take vacation leave <br /> • during the calendar year shall be determined with regard <br /> for wishes of the employee, and particular regard for the <br /> needs of the department. <br /> Upon the approval of the Fire Chief, vacation leave may be <br /> accumulated to a maximum of two (2) years' vacation • <br /> entitlemert.and taken in one (1) calendar year. Such <br /> approval shall be recorded in the employee's personnel <br /> file. An employee who fails to take accrued vacation leave - <br /> • within the time herein prescribed shall lose such accrued <br /> vacation leave. <br /> Upon being separated from City service, an eligible <br /> employee shall be entitled to compensation fcr any accrued <br /> but unused vacation calculated at the rate of pay at the <br /> • time of termination. <br /> Y Twenty-four (24 ) Hour Duty Shift <br /> 14.2 E : :oovees Assigned to 2`�+e..� <br /> vacation leave shall be accrued and credited for the pay <br /> period in which it is earned. <br /> An employee holding a full -time position regularly <br /> assigned to a twenty -four (24) hour duty shift shall be <br /> entitled to a vacation leave which shall consist of ten <br /> (10) hours for each full calendar month of service <br /> performed, which shall be equivalent to an annual vacation <br /> leave of five (5) twenty -four (24) hour shifts (120 <br /> hours). <br /> In the year in which an employee regularly assigned to a <br /> twenty -four (24) hour duty shift holding a full -time <br /> position completes five (5) full years of City service, <br /> and in succeeding calendar years, such employee shall be • <br /> entitled to a vacation leave which shall consist of <br /> fourteen (14) hours for each full calendar month of <br /> service performed which shall be equivalent to an annual. <br /> vacation leave of seven (7) twenty -four (24) hour shifts <br /> (168 hours). <br /> In the year in which an employee regularly assigned to a <br /> twenty -four (24) hour duty shift holding a full -time <br /> position completes ten (10) full years of City service, <br /> and in succeeding calendar years, such employee shall be <br /> entitled to a vacation leave which shall consist of <br /> sixteen (16) hours for each full calendar month of service <br /> performed, which shall be equivalent to an annual vacation <br /> leave of eight (8) twenty -four (24) hours shifts (192 <br /> hours). <br /> • In the year in which an employee regularly assigned to a: <br /> • 23 5 -12- <br />
