• <br /> An employee who is on Leave Without Pay status for one (1) <br /> through fifteen (15) calendar days shall continue to <br /> accrue vacation leave for the pay period. <br /> An employee who continues on Leave Without Pay status <br /> beyond fifteen (15) calendar days shall not accrue <br /> vacation leave for those subsequent pay period(s). <br /> vacation leave will again accrue when the employee has <br /> returned to paid status for the full pay period. <br /> • <br /> Segtion 15. Sick Leave <br /> • <br /> 15.1 Sick leave is not a right which employees can use at their <br /> discretion, but a privilege which can be allowed only in <br /> case of actual sickness or non - job - incurred injury of such <br /> employee, or of such employee's spouse or child residing <br /> in the home, which compels the employee to be absent from <br /> work. An employee may use up to a maximum cf twenty -four <br /> (24) hours of accrued sick leave in any twelve (12) <br /> consecutive month period for the illness of the employee's <br /> spouse or child; an employee may use an additional twenty - <br /> four (24) hours of said leave at the Fire Chief's <br /> discretion. <br /> All employees are required to provide notification of any <br /> inability to report to duty prior to commencement of their <br /> work shift. Employees assigned to a 56 hour per week duty <br /> schedule shall notify the Overtime Call in Station prior <br /> to 0700 hours on the day the employee is to be absent. <br /> Employees assigned to a 40 hour per week duty schedule <br /> shall notify the Fire Department Administration Office by <br /> 0815 hours on the day the employee is to be absent. <br /> Employees are responsible for keeping the Department <br /> in formed of their continuing condition and probable date <br /> of return to work. For any such absences the fire chief <br /> may require a physician's statement from an employee who <br /> requests sick leave. <br /> 15.2 For Those Employees As to a Twanty -four (24) Rnnr <br /> Duty Shift <br /> Sick leave with pay is cumulative at the rate of twelve <br /> (12) hours for each full month of service beginning at the <br /> time of full -time probationary employment. Unused sick <br /> leave may be accumulated to a total of one thousand nine <br /> hundred sixty (1,960) hours. <br /> 15.3 For Those Employa Assigned to a Forty (40) Four Work <br /> Sick leave is cumulative at the rate of eight (8) hours <br /> • <br /> 238 -14- <br />
