Damage or Loss of City Property or <br /> Equivment, • <br /> When the loss or damage of City property or equipment is • <br /> discovered, the officer -in- charge shall be responsible for <br /> the following procedure: <br /> A Preliminary Loss Report, on the appropriate Department <br /> form, must be completed and sent to the battalion chief, <br /> through channels. The officer -in- charge shall see that a <br /> • detailed report follows the Preliminary Loss Report if a <br /> major loss has occurred or there are unusual - <br /> circumstances. The officer's report, with his /her • <br /> analysis and recommendations fo_.preventing this accident; <br /> will accompany the detailed report. • <br /> The battalion chief shall see that a thorough <br /> investigation is made of the doge or loss and that <br /> corrective action is taken. The battalion chief shall <br /> forward the appropriate Department form and any other <br /> accompanying reports to the appropriate deputy chief_. <br /> Replacement costs for equipment assigned to an employee <br /> shall be borne by that employee unless such loss is <br /> determined to be u navoidable by the Fire Chief. <br /> Section 35. Exchange of Duty Assionments <br /> • <br /> 35.1 The following exchange of duty assignment procedures <br /> contained herein cannot cover every situation which may <br /> arise. In such a case, the on -duty battalion chief shall <br /> have decision - ;caking authority. The Chief's decision on <br /> all exchanges of duty assignments shall be final. <br /> 35.2 Line duty members desiring a 12 -hour or 24 -hour trade on a <br /> shift they are normally scheduled to work shall follow the <br /> • procedure outlined below: <br /> The employee will contact a member of an opposite <br /> platoon that is willing to exchange duty on the <br /> desired date(s). The two employees desiring an <br /> exchange will arrange a mutually acceptable payback," <br /> date. Both employees should check their personal t <br /> calendars to be sure they are not scheduled to be off <br /> duty due to a holiday, vacation, or an earlier <br /> approved trade. Both employees will make sure the <br /> trade will not necessitate either employee to work <br /> more than a continuous 48 hours, except in unusual <br /> circumstances, in which case, a battalion chief's <br /> approval will be necessary. Late in the year <br /> exchanges may extend into the following year but <br /> should be completed within 90 days of the original <br /> exchange date. <br /> 35.3 Acting pay shall not be granted as a result of a trade. <br /> 256 -32- <br />
