HOLIDAYS (Cont'd) <br /> All other days appointed by the President of the United States or the Governor of the <br /> State of California as a nation -wide or State -wide public holiday, day of fast, day of <br /> mourning, or day of thanksgiving, provided that observance of the day as a paid holiday <br /> is approved in writing by three or more members of the Board of Supervisors. <br /> • <br /> SECTION 8. VACATIONS <br /> • <br /> • <br /> A. VACATION ACCRUAL. <br /> • <br /> • <br /> 1. Vacations are accrued as follows: <br /> a. 7 shifts per year (14 hours/month) for 56 -hour /week employees and 15 days <br /> per year for 40 -hour /week employees, until completion of 4 years of service. <br /> b. 10 shifts per year (20 hrs/month) for 56- hour /week employees and and 22 <br /> days per year for 40 -hour /week employees, after completion of 4 years of <br /> service until the completion of 14 years of service. <br /> c. 12 shifts per year (24 hrs/month) for 56 -hour /week employees and 26 days <br /> per year for 40 -hour /week employees, after completion of 14 years of service <br /> and thereafter. <br /> 2. a. Employees covered by this Memorandum of Understanding are allowed to <br /> accrue to a maximum of two times annual vacation accrual. <br /> b. Once an employee schedules his/her annual vacation, those hours are <br /> considered used and must be taken. Those scheduled hours will not be <br /> applied to the maximum accrual. <br /> B. WHEN FIRST VACATION IS DUE. Vacation credit and the first vacation leave for any <br /> employee shall be due only after the completion of at least the equivalent of 365 calendar <br /> days of employment. <br /> C. RATE OF VACATION PAY. Compensation during vacation shall be at the rate of <br /> compensation which such person would have been entitled to receive if in active service <br /> during such vacation period. This does not include any acting pay. <br /> D. ANNUAL VACATION SELECTION. <br /> 1.
