There is no current lease agreement for this use, <br />nor does the ACFD pay rent for the site . Staff recommends that the City Council approve the <br />lease agreement with the ACFD for the Fire Training Center at 890 Lola Street establishing <br />rent and formalizing the agreement concerning use and maintenance of the property. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City wishes to continue its cooperative relationship with the ACFD by allowing emergency <br />training at the City property known as the Fire Training Center . The ACFD has occupied the <br />site rent free since it was established in 1995. However, as the ACFD has continued to grow <br />and expand, the City believes all agencies that make up the ACFD should share in the cost to <br />lease this City property rather than the City of San Leandro carrying the entire burden. <br />Therefore, the City wishes to lease to the ACFD the property at the appraised lease value of <br />$10,782 per month for a period of 10 years commencing on July 1, 2013. <br />In 1968, the City built the Fire Training Center for training San Leandro Fire Department <br />personnel. When the ACFD was established , the City allowed ACFD to continue to use the <br />property at no cost for the training of its personnel and the personnel of other fire protection <br />organizations at the site. <br />Analysis <br />The ACFD entered into an agreement for fire protection services with the City on July 1, 1995. <br />Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 6/11/2013
