City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: October 7, 2013 <br />Resolution - Council <br />Agenda Section:File Number:13-482 CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Agenda Number: <br />TO:City Council <br />FROM:Chris Zapata <br />City Manager <br />BY:Theresa Mallon <br />Library Services Director <br />FINANCE REVIEW:Not Applicable <br />TITLE:ADOPT: Resolution Amending Section XV -Boards and Commissions of the <br />City of San Leandro Councilmembers Handbook, Related to Adding a Youth <br />Member to the Library-Historical Commission (makes updates for the <br />appointment of a youth member) <br />WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to include the youth perspective on issues and <br />actions considered by the Library-Historical Commission; and <br />WHEREAS, amendments to Section XV-Boards and Commissions of the City of San <br />Leandro Councilmembers Handbook (“the Handbook”) are necessary in order to add a youth <br />member to the Library-Historical Commission. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as <br />follows: <br />SECTION 1.Subsection entitled “ELIGIBILITY AND QUALIFICATIONS” of the City of <br />San Leandro Councilmembers Handbook is hereby amended to read as follows, with <br />additions in underline and deletions in strikethrough text: <br />No member of any board or commission shall be a member of any other board or commission <br />or hold any paid office or employment in the City Government . In order to be eligible for an <br />appointment to any board or commission, a person shall be a qualified elector of the City , <br />except members of the Youth Advisory Commission and the youth member of the <br />Library-Historical Commission. <br />SECTION 2.Subsection entitled “APPOINTMENTS, TERMS, METHOD” of the City of <br />San Leandro Councilmembers Handbook is hereby amended to read as follows, with <br />additions in underline and deletions in strikethrough text: <br />The members of each of such boards or commissions shall be appointed by the Council. <br />They shall be subject to removal by the Council without cause, notice or hearing. <br />Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 10/2/2013
