Business Development staff participates in regional efforts to attract <br /> international investors through partnerships with the Bay Area Council and the East Bey EOA <br /> and has frequently hosted visiting delegations from other countries. <br /> Accomplishments To-Date: <br /> • In recent years, staff has hosted multiple delegations of Chinese businesses and/or <br /> investors tu connect them tu development opportunities in San Leandro. <br /> • In April 2013, staff hosted e delegation from Portugal specifically interested in learning <br /> what innovation means to San Leandro, what Chief Innovation Officer does, and huvv <br /> this role is intended tucreate economic growth. <br /> • In partnership with Lit San Leandro and the U.S. Department of State, plans are in place <br /> to host e series of delegations representing businesses in Turkey who are seeking <br /> opportunities inthe United States. <br /> Unfunded Activities and Programs to be Developed <br /> VisitSanLeandr0.c0m Website — A key recommendation of the 2011 Marketing <br /> Communications Plan is the design and development of e search-optimized vvebsite, separate <br /> from the official Cityvvebsite that is targeted to visitors and focuses on San beendrc/s assets. <br /> The new site vvuu|d serve as the hub or the primary marketing instrument for increasing <br /> awareness of San Leandro and for driving the public to events, business establishments, <br /> recreational activities, historical sites, etc. Resources to create and maintain such e site have <br /> not been identified et this time. <br /> Develop and Implement Strategy to Attract Clusters of Ethnic and International <br /> Businesses —As noted above, efforts to attract international businesses have been ongoing in <br /> San Leandro for several years. Development of strategy to more systematically attract and <br /> develop dusters of ethnic and international businesses vvuu|d further this goal.
