Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - April 3, 1995 Page - 13 - PUBLIC HEARINGS (continued) The following Motion was then introduced: Minute Order No. 95-19, Matter of Appeal by R. Shih of the Board of Zoning Adjustments' Denial of V-94-5; Variance; to Reduce the Required Rear Yard Setback from 10 Feet to 5 Feet to Retain an Existing Addition, Which Includes a Family Room, Bedroom/Study and Bathroom; 14289 Santiago Road; Assessor's Parcel Number 80G-928-15; R. Shih; RS (Residential Single-Family) District. (1005) On motion by Council Member Galvan, who moved its approval , seconded by Council Member Loeffler, with Mayor Corbett and Council Member Polvorosa voting no (2) , Council Member Myers abstaining (1) , and carried by a majority vote (4) , the City Council granted the Appeal of V-94-5 and approved the Variance, subject to the preparation and approval by the City Council of Conditions of Approval , including compliance with all Building Codes and mitigation of impacts, as recommended by staff. 9. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS A. Council Member Galvan said he enjoyed the tour of Ghirardelli Chocolate and suggested staff look into the suggestion made for a chocolate festival . B. The City Council discussed the matter of nominations to Boards and Commissions. Council Member Galvan said that, at the last meeting, there was consensus to turn in nominations for Boards and Commissions by March 24th. He turned his in, but others did not. Mayor Corbett said the City Attorney had suggested a motion on the deadline, but that was not done. Council Member Perry said she thought they had a gentlemen's agreement. Council Member Galvan said he understood it was clear they would meet the deadline. Council Member Myers agreed; he thought there was consensus. Council Member Galvan said he thought it wasn't necessary to make a motion but that they would all comply. He said there may be a need to make everything official in the future so it's clear and on the record. Council Member Perry said her recollection was that everyone would try to get appointments in as soon as possible so they could work together.
