Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - April 17, 1995 Page - 14 - <br /> NEW BUSINESS (continued) <br /> Mayor Corbett reported on the East Bay Conversion and Reinvestment <br /> Commission. She said, by virtue of the Commission's rules, the City's <br /> member is designated as the Mayor, who designates the Alternate. She <br /> said this is also true for the Alameda Reuse and Reinvestment <br /> Authority. She said, in order to receive federal funding, it is <br /> required that an Authority be created regarding closure of the base. <br /> A brand new Authority has been put together regarding the closure of <br /> Oak Knoll . She said she has made copies of the report on reuse of the <br /> base available at the library. <br /> Mayor Corbett reported on the East Bay Dischargers Authority and said <br /> they have recently approved a project to convert the dechlorination <br /> facility from the use of sulfur dioxide gas to remove chlorine to the <br /> use of sodium bisulfide which is liquid. This will remove the <br /> potential for sulfur dioxide leaks. The San Leandro Water Pollution <br /> Control Plant is also proposing a similar project. <br /> Mayor Corbett reported on the Alameda County Waste Management <br /> Authority. She said property has been purchased in the Altamont Hills <br /> for building a co-composting facility. Operators have been selected <br /> and negotiations are in process. <br /> Z. Approval of Work Session Items Requiring Action. <br /> None <br /> AA. Report on Closed Session Actions Taken. <br /> The City Attorney reported that no action was taken. <br /> 8. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> None <br /> 9. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> A. Council Member Myers requested a report on crosswalks and the City's <br /> policy for installing them after a street overlay. He requested a Work <br /> Session on this matter. <br /> Council Member Myers said he and Council Member Kerr and Mayor Corbett <br /> attended the "Feed the Needy Program" at Carpenter's Hall in Hayward. <br /> He said this year they were happy to see the attendees were down from <br /> 394 to 200 people, and there were fewer families with children. <br />
