Council Member Loeffler commended the Washington Manor Homeowners' <br /> Association for a very successful Egg Hunt and said the dedication of <br /> the new play area was very enjoyable. <br /> Council Member Loeffler said he appreciated the opportunity to work <br /> with the volunteers at the Creek Clean-Up on April 15th. He said it <br /> disturbs him that people disregard the environment, and he said the <br /> City needs to continue to work with Kragen's. He said working with the <br /> residents of the Shelter was a warming experience, and he appreciated <br /> their reaching out to become part of the community. He commended Rick <br /> Richards and the Friends of the Creek for their work. <br /> Council Member Loeffler said the City Council is very concerned <br /> regarding the condition of the railroad crossings and suggested the <br /> public write down the worst railroad crossings in town and send that <br /> information to staff to pursue with the Public Utilities Commission. <br /> Council Member Loeffler said he appreciated Mr. Johnson' s comments. He <br /> said he works very hard at separating his role as a public-school <br /> official from that as a Council Member. He said he would be happy to <br /> sit down with Mr. Johnson and explain the Garfield test scores. <br /> Council Member Loeffler said his comments on gun control at a <br /> homeowners' association meeting were in response to concerns about the <br /> availability of guns. He had said there might be a need for a <br /> disarmament policy in the East Bay, and he is concerned regarding the <br /> availability of guns. He said he would never speak against people's <br /> rights to bear arms, but he has concern regarding children and their <br /> access to guns. <br /> C. Council Member Kerr said he was pleased to see the work done on the <br /> Washington Manor Park Tot Lot and noted that $12,000 was privately <br /> donated. <br /> Council Member Kerr noted this was the 45th consecutive Washington <br /> Manor Homeowners' Association Easter Egg Hunt. <br /> Council Member Kerr said he had been advised by Madge Basuino that the <br /> railroad crossing at Fairway Drive is extremely rough, and he said the <br /> City Council took action to work with the PUC. <br /> D. Council Member Polvorosa said there is increased graffiti on Lewelling, <br /> Norton, Washington, the gas station at Washington and Fargo, and on <br /> Zelma Street, as well as a number of shopping carts in the <br /> neighborhood. <br />
