Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - April 17, 1995 Page - 6 -
NEW BUSINESS (continued)
Council Member Galvan seconded the motion.
Mayor Corbett asked that Council Members who serve on other agencies
give the City Clerk information regarding meeting times, etc. She said
she would like to know if any Council Members are interested in any of
the three agencies listed on the agenda, because there are time
commitments related to daytime meetings and, in the past, Council
Members have not been interested in them because of work conflicts,
which is why she has served in the past.
Council Member Perry said full information is needed to make decisions;
the Council could not decide tonight.
Mayor Corbett asked if they could tell about the three agencies listed
on the agenda and noted she had provided information about the meeting
times. In response to Council questions, Assistant City Attorney Steve
Mattas said a motion was made and seconded, and discussion was
appropriate on the motion. He said the issues being raised are
appropriate as they relate to the three agencies listed on the agenda.
The other bodies could be taken up at the Work Session.
Council Member Perry said her motion was to include all appointments.
Council Member Galvan agreed he had seconded that motion.
Council Member Myers said the Council desires to continue the matter.
He said he had asked for a list of these agencies, including times,
meetings, dates, places, how appointed, who appointed now, alternates,
and compensation for meetings and subcommittee meetings. He said the
agenda included only three agencies. There are a number of other
agencies the Council received information on. He said staff could
prepare a list with complete information to go in the packet Thursday
evening. If the Council desires to be on one of the agencies, they can
advise the City Clerk by the following Wednesday, and that information
can go out in the packets on the 27th, for a vote at the May 1st
meeting. He recommended one list, with all the information on all the
agencies.
Mayor Corbett said she did not dispute getting additional information;
that was why she asked if there are any additional questions to be on
put on the list.
Council Member Perry said she had no additional questions, but the
items raised by Council Member Myers would be included in her motion.
Mike Oliver, City Manager, repeated the schedule. Thursday's packet
would include a list of all outside agencies with that information
specified. The following Wednesday by 5:00 p.m. the Council Members
would call the City Clerk and indicate in which agencies they are
interested, and the Clerk will make a list and send it to the Council
on Thursday, April 27th, for the following meeting, and they would
discuss that at a Work Session. The City Council concurred.
