Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - May 15, 1995 Page - 5 -
PUBLIC COMMENTS (continued)
V. Barbara Shockley, 1890 Bockman Road, San Lorenzo, said the marshland
dedication was the beginning of a long process to reclaim marshland.
She said development of the Roberts Landing site is inappropriate and
incompatible with the marshland restoration and is the wrong site for
housing due to access and the possibility of bay mud movement due to an
earthquake. She said the site should remain as marshland or a
stormwater runoff site.
W. Jim Spears, 16042 Via Camaro, Board of Directors of San Lorenzo
Homeowners Association, presented a letter and said the Association had
not been notified of the Roberts Landing agenda item. He said they
opposed the project because of the traffic it would generate on Grant
Avenue.
Staff explained the process for Mr. Spears and the Association to be
placed on the City Council agenda mailing list. The City Council
explained that the project will not connect with Grant Avenue and will
not impact traffic on that street.
X. Lisa Cooper, 15111 Washington Avenue, spoke regarding assistance with
housing expenses. Ms. Cooper was referred to the Community Relations
Representative.
Y. Sabrina Vasquez, 13242 Doolittle Drive, spoke in favor of skateboarding
and requested that the City Council consider permitting skateboarding
at the Wells Fargo parking lot in the evenings and on Sundays. She said
the lot is not used at those times. She said skateboarding keeps youth
off the streets and out of trouble.
Z. City Attorney Steve Meyers discussed the use of speaker cards and Brown
Act requirements. He said the City uses the cards for the convenience
of the Council and the public and is in compliance with the Brown Act.
6. CONSENT CALENDAR
Consent Calendar items are typically routine in nature and are considered
for approval by the City Council with one single action. The City Council
may remove items from the Consent Calendar for purposes of discussion.
Items listed on the Consent Calendar are deemed to have been read by title.
Item 6.A was removed from the Consent Calendar to New Business. The
remaining items on the Consent Calendar were approved as follows:
Introduced by Council Member Kerr, who moved adoption of the Consent
Calendar, with all items deemed to have been read by title, seconded by
Council Member Perry, and carried by a majority vote (6) , with Council
Member Polvorosa absent (1) .
A. Minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 17, 1995. Removed from the
Consent Calendar to New Business.
