Vice Mayor Kerr suggested San Leandro host a Congestion Management <br /> Agency tour; he said San Leandro has done more with CMA funds than any <br /> other agency. <br /> Vice Mayor Kerr said the Greenhouse Marketplace 10th Anniversary party <br /> was a success and commended the invitation to Daniel Shinoda to <br /> participate and to add to the celebration activities. <br /> Vice Mayor Kerr said he received complaints from a neighbor of Dayton <br /> School that stray balls and dust continue to be problems. He requested <br /> something be done before the baseball season opens in March. <br /> Vice Mayor Kerr said there is a growing number of youth and sports <br /> leagues in San Leandro, and there is constant competition for available <br /> fields. He said two family parks have been taken over by baseball and <br /> softball uses. He suggested the Mayor appoint an ad hoc committee to <br /> study the future of sports facilities in San Leandro, to include two or <br /> three Council Members, two or three Recreation and Parks Commission <br /> members, and two or three staff members. He said the committee should <br /> study facilities in other cities and meet with sports league leaders to <br /> determine what is needed in San Leandro, the availability of locations, <br /> methods of financing, and the willingness of the taxpayers to pay for <br /> such facilities. Council Member Myers suggested such a committee <br /> should also include School District representatives. <br /> Mayor Corbett thanked Vice Mayor Kerr for his suggestion. <br /> E. Council Member Loeffler commended Vice Mayor Kerr for the Greenhouse <br /> Marketplace celebration and said the inclusion of Mr. Shinoda added a <br /> touch of class and many memories. <br /> Council Member Loeffler said he attended the Lucky's Warehouse birthday <br /> celebration and commended Lucky' s for their commitment to the <br /> community. <br /> Council Member Loeffler thanked Rick Richards for the Creek Cleanup and <br /> said it gets better every year. <br /> Council Member Loeffler said the focus of his September 19 Town Hall , <br /> attended by approximately 60 people, was on community thoughts about <br /> the City Hall renovation, East 14th Street median, and redevelopment in <br /> this part of the community. He thanked staff for their support, <br /> including the City Manager, Gary Kruger, Debbie Potter, Wandzia-Grycz <br /> Hernandez, Kathy Ornelas, and Joann Oliver. <br /> Council Member Loeffler said the Beautification Day drew 400 volunteers <br /> to fix up schools. <br />
