Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - January 19, 1993 Page - 16 -
PUBLIC HEARINGS (continued)
Esther Holcomb, 694 Douglas Drive, said she had been concerned whether
there would be contiguous sidewalks for children to play on, and they
do exist in this project. She said she was glad the entrances are
visible from the street. She said Magnolia Lane is a good project, and
she would like to see more of these.
Joel DeWitt, said this is an already built area, taking advantage of an
area that's not too good. He said the groundwater is not particular to
that area. He said well water tastes very bad. He asked if there were
different water-quality rules for film processing.
Council Member Faria said film processing water has to be collected on
site. Mr. DeWitt asked if this is a walled community. Mr. Penaranda
said there was no gate.
Jeff Abramson, pointed out that this project is not being built on a
site that was vacant. It used to be a large factory, so this project
will probably produce less traffic than it did before.
Council Member Myers asked for a response to the issue of street
lighting and trees. Mr. Abramson said the street lights are located in
the sidewalk, and the trees would be located behind the sidewalk. He
said the light is meant to flow toward the street, not toward the
homes.
There being no further comments from the public, on motion of Council
Member Myers, seconded by Council Member Corbett, and carried
unanimously, the Public Hearing was closed.
The following Motion and Resolution were then introduced:
Minute Order No. 93-04. Motion Regarding A-92-08, Reclassification,
and PD-92-06, GDP/PDP, and Certifying Negative Declaration.
(1099/1009)
On motion by Council Member Myers, who moved its approval , seconded by
Council Member Kerr, and carried by the following called vote, the City
Council approved A-92-08, Reclassification and Re-Zoning; PD-92-06,
GDP/PDP; and certified the Negative Declarations for A-92-08 and PD-92-
06 as complete and in compliance with CEQA requirements.
AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Kerr, Myers, Perry,
Polvorosa ( 6 )
NOES: None ( 0 )
ABSENT: Mayor Karp ( 1 )
