Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - March 1, 1993 Page - 15 - <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS (continued) <br /> The following Motion was then introduced: <br /> Minute Order No. 93-14. Matter of A-92-09; Zoning Code Amendment; <br /> Amends Zoning Code Regarding the Screening of Toxic Cleanup and Soil <br /> Remediation Activities Throughout San Leandro; Planning Commission <br /> Resolution of Intention 11-12-92. (1024) <br /> On motion by Council Member Kerr, who moved its approval , seconded by <br /> Council Member Perry, and carried by the following called vote, the <br /> City Council continued the matter of A-92-09 to a date uncertain and <br /> directed staff to respond to the City Council 's concerns and return <br /> with specific wording. <br /> AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Kerr, Myers, Perry, Polvorosa; <br /> Mayor Karp ( 7 ) <br /> NOES: None ( 0 ) <br /> ABSENT: None ( 0 ) <br /> 9. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> A. Council Member Myers noted that there is a large pothole on Farallon <br /> Drive near Griffith in the middle of the railroad crossing. <br /> B. Council Member Myers commended staff for their quick response in <br /> installing some street signs he had requested. <br /> C. Council Member Corbett requested that Bob Taylor respond to the <br /> question on the City's back-up position if the Materials Recovery <br /> Facility does not work as planned and does not meet AB 939 goals. <br /> D. Council Member Kerr commended the Task Force and the City Council <br /> Finance Committee for the excellent job done to date. <br /> E. Council Member Kerr noted that a new child-care center had opened in <br /> Washington Manor called Our Future Tots. He said he was not <br /> advertising the center, but it was a new, wonderful facility at 963 <br /> Manor Boulevard. He said he is quite impressed; it is an asset to the <br /> neighborhood and an activity which is needed. <br /> F. Council Member Kerr said he would like to see consolidation of the City <br /> Election proceed and would like to see this matter placed on the 1994 <br /> ballot for implementation in 1996. He said there are several <br /> advantages, including cost savings, savings in staff time, and <br /> increased voter participation. He said there are many advantages, and <br /> he recommends that it be pursued. <br />
