Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - June 21, 1993 Page - 14 - <br /> NEW BUSINESS (continued) <br /> E. Minute Order No. 93-43 below. Matter of Re-Nomination of Member to <br /> Recreation and Parks Commission (District 2) - John Justino. (1020) <br /> On motion by Council Member Perry, who moved its approval , seconded by <br /> Council Member Kerr, and carried by the following called vote, the City <br /> Council nominated John Justino to the Recreation and Parks Commission <br /> (District 2) . <br /> AYES: Council Members Corbett, Kerr, Myers, Perry, Polvorosa; <br /> Mayor Faria ( 6 ) <br /> NOES: None ( 0 ) <br /> ABSENT: None ( 0 ) <br /> F. Matter of Discussion Regarding Filling the City Council Vacancy, <br /> District 1. <br /> The City Clerk noted that seven applications had been received to date. <br /> She said she would be drawing the names out of a hat and would provide <br /> the City Council with the applications and the order of interviews on <br /> Tuesday night. <br /> Mayor Faria said he would be supplying the City Council with a list of <br /> questions that might be asked. <br /> The City Council expressed a preference that there be a minimum amount <br /> of time for each interview of approximately 15 minutes. <br /> The City Council asked if the candidates could be asked to wait outside <br /> during other interviews. The City Attorney said they could, but it <br /> could not be required. <br /> In response to questions from the City Council , Mayor Faria said the <br /> City Council could ask the questions that would be provided, as well as <br /> any additional questions they felt were necessary to elicit <br /> information. He said he felt the interviews should take as long as was <br /> necessary to obtain adequate information. <br /> The City Council discussed the need for flexibility during the <br /> interview process. <br />
