Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - June 24, 1993 Page - 4 - <br /> Council Member Perry said her top two choices were Dale Reed and Paul <br /> Nahm. She said her first choice was Paul Nahm, based on his wide <br /> breadth of experience, his thoughts regarding priorities of public <br /> safety and library and recreation services having an impact on quality <br /> of life, his base closure experience, and his team analogy. <br /> Council Member Polvorosa said his top choices were Paul Nahm and Dale <br /> Reed. He said both men have a strong sense of the community, recognize <br /> the need for teamwork, and have a good business sense, but Mr. Nahm <br /> came out a little ahead. <br /> Council Member Kerr said Mr. Nahm and Mr. Reed were also his top <br /> choices. He said Mr. Reed showed greater experience and leadership and <br /> could hit the road rolling. He said Mr. Reed has chaired many boards <br /> and commissions in the City and knows it from top to bottom and is <br /> ready to go, so his vote would be for Dale Reed. <br /> Council Member Corbett said her top three were Paul Nahm, Dale Reed and <br /> Rick Van Tuyle. She said all three men have vast experience to draw <br /> from and stressed honesty, fairness and integrity. She said Mr. Nahm <br /> was on top in her mind. She said, in the area of Economic Development, <br /> Mr. Nahm had done a lot in his efforts to keep the base open. She said <br /> he has commission and budget experience. <br /> Council Member Myers said his vote was for the same top three people. <br /> He said all three applicants are excellent, all from City commissions. <br /> He said Mr. Reed's background is a little heavier than the other <br /> applicants. He said he has been involved in almost everything in the <br /> City and has done a lot for the community. He said Mr. Reed is <br /> 'familiar with current City programs and has the background. He said he <br /> voted for Dale Reed. <br /> Mayor Faria agreed that these three people were his top choices. He <br /> agreed with Council Member Myers comments regarding Mr. Reed. He said <br /> he was concerned about Monday night's meeting, and said Mr. Reed is <br /> familiar with the subject. He said his first choice was Mr. Reed. <br /> Mayor Faria noted that the vote was tied three-three. <br /> Steve Meyers noted that Mr. Reed owns property in the Joint <br /> Redevelopment Area and would not be able to act at the meeting on <br /> Monday night. He noted that, apart from the decisions to be made on <br /> Monday night, other decisions regarding the Redevelopment Project would <br /> not likely be made in the next year. He noted Mr. Reed would be able <br /> to vote in the future on Redevelopment projects in the area that did <br /> not involve his property. <br /> Council Member Myers noted that the City Council had received letters <br /> of endorsement for Mr. Nahm and Mr. Reed. He said he had received a <br /> phone call from Associated Homeowners reflecting a phone poll of some <br />
