Minutes - Joint San Leandro City Council/ Page - 10 -
San Leandro Redevelopment Agency/
Alameda County Board of Supervisors Meeting - June 28, 1993
JOINT PUBLIC HEARING (continued)
June Catalano said five comments were received and staff would respond in
writing regarding.
Supervisor Steele asked if the Board would adopt the EIR on July 8th.
City Attorney Meyers said the Board of Supervisors acts at its Board
meeting. He said County staff will have a resolution which will accept the
EIR and Plan.
Supervisor Steele asked where the letters that people wrote were and where
the answers could be found.
Brian McElroy said they were in Section 3 of the binder, page 128. The
actual comment letters were in front of that section beginning on page 127.
Council Member Kerr asked if John Sullivan's letter was part of the packet.
June Catalano said staff had the letter and it would be entered into the
record.
Mayor Faria said statements or testimony would be received from those
present in favor of the Redevelopment Plan or Final Environmental Impact
Report. He asked speakers to identify themselves and provide their
address. He asked for comments from the taxing agencies first.
A. Bob Nehls, Assistant Superintendent for the San Leandro Unified School
District, said he had a letter on behalf of the San Leandro Unified
School District which stated that the District, one of the local
agencies, supports the concept of redevelopment in San Leandro to order
to improve the community. The District accepts the redevelopment
conceptually. The District has adopted a 2% pass through resolution as
required by law and it is the intention to reach an agreement on this
important matter.
B. Pat Piras, Member of Board of Directors, Alameda/Contra Costa Transit,
said she represented San Leandro and the unincorporated area. She
asked if the Board of Supervisors' hearing would be on July 8th and not
July 1st as mentioned in the notice.
Adolph Martinelli said the original notice had the wrong date, and it
has been rescheduled to July 8th.
Ms. Piras said Alameda/Contra Costa Transit has submitted a letter into
the record. The letter addresses the redevelopment plan and the EIR.
She said they have also submitted comments on the EIR. She said staffs
have been working very hard on coming to a tax sharing agreement
