Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - July 19, 1993 Page - 9 - NEW BUSINESS (continued) Council Member Polvorosa said the Library Commission recommended naming the facility at the Library after Dave Karp and that recommendation came to the Council Subcommittee. He said the matter of other facilities being named after Dave Karp would be considered farther down the road. He said the Committee came up with the recommendation to name the Fairway/Aladdin Overcrossing after Dave Karp. Council Member Kerr said the Alameda County Congestion Management Authority requested that San Leandro would name the overcrossing in honor of Dave Karp. He said Cal -Trans has approved the idea. Council Member Perry asked if other items had been approved as well . Mayor Faria asked if the recommendation of the Committee at this time was to pursue these two items. Council Member Perry asked how many other things the Committee had looked at. She said she has heard dozens of recommendations. Council Member Nahm asked if the Subcommittee was looking for a motion on this recommendation. Council Member Kerr said they would request that later. Mayor Faria pointed out they would need a motion in order for the dedication to take place on August 7. Council Member Corbett asked if the Committee could come back with all of the possible options so the City Council could chose from them. Council Member Kerr said the Committee felt these were the two major items in which Dave Karp was involved. Mayor Faria asked for a vote on naming the Senior Meeting Facility. The following Motion was then introduced: Minute Order No. 93-55. Matter of Report from Dave Karp Memorial City Council Subcommittee. (1156) On motion by Council Member Nahm, who moved its approval , seconded by Council Member Kerr, and carried by the following called vote, the City Council approved naming the Senior Meeting Facility at the Community Library in honor of former Mayor Dave Karp. AYES: Council Members Corbett, Kerr, Myers, Nahm, Perry, Polvorosa; Mayor Faria ( 7 .) NOES: None ( 0 ) ABSENT: None ( 0 )
