He <br /> said the property owners just do not pay, and none of these charges are <br /> over a year old. <br /> Council Member Myers asked if there is any interest charged on these <br /> liens. Mr. Jermanis said late payment charges amount to 9% per year. <br /> He said the amounts of the delinquent charges have not gone up. He <br /> said the County will not assess any interest charges when these become <br /> tax liens. He said the City will receive its money from these in <br /> December and in April . <br /> Council Member Myers asked what would happen if one of the businesses <br /> went bankrupt. Mr. Jermanis said the amount would be a lien on the <br /> property. <br /> The Hearing was then opened to the public. <br /> There being no comments from the public, on motion of Council Member <br /> Nahm, seconded by Council Member Myers, and carried unanimously, the <br /> Public Hearing was closed. <br /> The following Resolution was then introduced: <br /> - Resolution No. 93-178, Resolution Confirming Reports of the Finance <br /> Director and Development Services Director, Imposing Liens for Non- <br /> Payment of Delinquent City Service Charges, Sewer/Refuse Service, <br /> Business License Fees, Weed Abatement Charges, and Community <br /> Preservation Nuisance Abatement Charges. (1221/1078/1203/1197) <br /> Introduced by Council Member Kerr, who moved its adoption, seconded <br /> by Council Member Myers, and carried by the following called vote: <br /> AYES: Council Members Corbett, Kerr, Myers, Nahm, Perry, <br /> Polvorosa; Mayor Faria ( 7 ) <br /> NOES: None ( 0 ) <br /> ABSENT: None ( 0 ) <br /> 10. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> A. Council Member Myers spoke regarding the restrooms at Marina Park. He <br /> said the Marina Faire Homeowners Association Picnic was held there, and <br /> people said the restrooms were in poor condition early in the day. <br /> B. Council Member Myers noted that two of his neighbors had brown water <br /> coming from their faucets and found out the Fire Department was <br /> flushing out hydrants. He said people should be notified or the <br /> Council should be informed when this will be occurring. <br /> C. Council Member Myers asked what the status was of the house on Jamaica <br /> Street. <br />
