Proclamation Declaring November 13-19, 1994, Youth Appreciation Week. <br /> Mayor Corbett said the Optimist Club is dedicated to working with the <br /> youth of the community. She thanked them for the many activities they <br /> have undertaken in San Leandro, including fund raising and a variety of <br /> programs. Mayor Corbett read the Proclamation proclaiming Youth <br /> Appreciation Week. <br /> Harold Kitzman and Minnie Malloy accepted the Proclamation on behalf of <br /> the Club. <br /> Council Member Perry, a member of the Optimist Club, said the <br /> Optimist's philosophy is to help youth in the community, and they have <br /> raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for our youth. She said San <br /> Leandro has a strong commitment to keeping our young people safe and <br /> involved in positive activities. <br /> Mr. Kitzmann said it was a pleasure to accept the Proclamation, and the <br /> Club is dedicated to the youth of our community. He said the Club <br /> enjoys working with the City and receives a lot of support from the <br /> City and the business community. <br /> 5. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> Public Comments are limited to 5 minutes per person. The public is invited <br /> to make any comments related to Agenda items (including San Leandro <br /> Redevelopment Agency, San Leandro Parking Authority, and San Leandro <br /> Industrial Development Authority) or other items of public interest at this <br /> time. Comments regarding Public Hearing items will be heard during the <br /> Public Hearing portion of the Agenda. <br /> A. James Driver, Ashland Area, said the Economic Development Advisory <br /> Committee appointees are covered by the Brown Act once they're <br /> appointed. He requested clarification on the Resolution amending the <br /> budget. <br /> B. Dana Johnson, 343 Farrelly Drive, spoke regarding crime and described <br /> a number of crimes that have occurred in San Leandro in recent days. <br /> He recommended the City Council adopt a resolution stating that persons <br /> convicted of crimes committed in San Leandro will face additional <br /> sentencing. He said the City should work with the District Attorney's <br /> Office to make sure crimes are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the <br /> law. <br /> C. Sam Del Castillo, said he had questions regarding Consent Calendar Item <br /> F. <br />
