Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - December 19, 1994 Page - 12 - <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS (continued) <br /> The following Resolution was then introduced: <br /> Resolution No. 94-218, Resolution of Necessity Authorizing Acquisition <br /> of Certain Property for the Washington Avenue and Halcyon Drive <br /> Intersection Improvement Project (STPL-5041) and Finding that the <br /> Public Interest and Necessity Require the Proposed Project, that the <br /> Location Thereof Causes the Least Private Injury, that the Subject <br /> Property Is Necessary for the Proposed Project (Land at the Northerly <br /> Corner of Washington Avenue and Halcyon Drive - Southern Pacific <br /> Transportation Company) (authorizes the City Attorney to petition the <br /> court to begin eminent domain proceedings against Southern Pacific <br /> Transportation Company) . (1206) <br /> Introduced by Council Member Polvorosa, who moved its adoption, <br /> seconded by Council Member Perry, and carried by a majority vote (7) . <br /> 9. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> A. Council Member Myers said he attended the Carpenters Hall Christmas <br /> dinner for the needy last Saturday and 706 people were served. He said <br /> it was a heartwarming and gratifying event. <br /> B. Council Member Myers thanked the San Leandro Management Organization <br /> and the San Leandro City Employees' Association for their support and <br /> continuing efforts to be part of reducing costs in San Leandro. He <br /> noted those employees are losing 3% of their gross income through the <br /> Furlough Program. <br /> C. Council Member Myers wished everyone Happy Holidays. <br /> D. Council Member Loeffler noted there is extensive graffiti on the <br /> freeway walls between Williams and Marina and said it is a sad <br /> commentary. He said he has also noticed graffiti on some of our major <br /> businesses. He asked for a report on the total cost of controlling <br /> graffiti , including costs to the City, School District, and businesses <br /> and said we need to get something positive going. <br /> E. Council Member Loeffler wished everyone Happy Holidays. <br /> F. Council Member Kerr also said the Carpenters' Hall dinner was rewarding <br /> and much appreciated. He thanked the Bonaire Civic League and Lavern <br /> Anderson for their dinner event. He said the Greenhouse Marketplace <br /> McDonald's event was enjoyable. He wished everyone a Merry Christmas <br /> and Happy New Year. <br /> G. Council Member Polvorosa suggested that staff identify a permanent site <br /> with an existing tree for the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. <br /> H. Council Member Polvorosa commended Bonaire Civic League for an <br /> enjoyable evening. <br />
