Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - September 8, 1992 Page - 6 -
PUBLIC COMMENTS (continued)
Council Member Perry felt it would be better to schedule a Public
Hearing after the September 16, Oakland Planning Commission meeting,
but staff could see what could be worked out with the developer in the
meantime.
Mr. Bailey suggested they meet with the City Attorney and staff before
the 16th and hold a Public Hearing after the 16th.
Council Member Corbett made a motion to allow Dunsmuir Alliance to meet
with staff and the developer. There was no second to the motion.
Mike Oliver said it sounded like the Council was interested in getting
a more detailed accounting from the developer, then getting some
reporting mechanism back to the Council so they can determine whether
or not to hold a Hearing.
Mayor Karp suggested a meeting with staff before September 14th and a
Public Hearing on the 14th for one hour, then presenting that
information to the Oakland Planning Commission. He said the developer
may be willing to compromise.
Ms. Goodman said they are asking for an opportunity for the community
to meet with the Council and did not feel it was necessary for the
developer to give another presentation.
Council Member Corbett made a motion, seconded by Council Member Myers,
to hold a Public Hearing, limited to one and one-half hours, for the
purpose of hearing comments on the Dunsmuir Heights project.
Council Member Faria said he did not feel the developer could be
excluded from making comments. He said he felt it would be best if
staff negotiated with the developer and communicated with the Oakland
City Council .
Council Member Perry asked if staff could meet with the developer
before September 14th. Mr. Oliver felt this could be done.
Council Member Perry requested an amendment to the motion. She moved
to direct staff and the City Attorney to meet with the Dunsmuir
Alliance and the developer, prior to September 14th, and try to achieve
mitigations requested by the City of San Leandro by the 14th or the
16th of September. If the mitigations are not agreed to, the City
Council will hold a Public Hearing on the matter on September 21st.
Council Members Corbett and Myers concurred with the amendment.
