He said the second meeting would provide an overview of City Finances and the formation of subcommittees. Council Member Perry said she will be providing the Task Force with information from the League of California Cities Statewide "Life After the State Budget" Committee. 8. PUBLIC HEARINGS None 9. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS A. Council Member Myers said he attended Council Member Corbett's Town Hall Meeting. He said Council Member Corbett, the City Manager, and City staff did an excellent job. He said approximately 50 people attended, and they had a lot of good input. He congratulated Council Member Corbett. B. Council Member Corbett said the Town Hall Meeting was a success and generated many positive, supportive public comments. She said people want to be involved in the community, and they were happy to see a Town Hall Meeting in the North Area. She thanked Best Manor, Broadmoor, and Estudillo Homeowners Associations, and Denise Kaplan for distributing fliers. She thanked Kathy Ornelas for all of her help in organizing the Town Hall Meeting and the Department Heads for attending. C. Council Member Corbett said the Budget Hot Line is working well . She said the delivery of the messages by Rick Evans and Kenton Jang is very good, and people like being able to leave messages. D. Council Member Corbett complimented the Public Safety employees for making this a safe Halloween. E. Council Member Kerr said three members of the City Council attended the fifth anniversary celebration of the Women's Shelter. He said the shelter has many success stories and has helped a lot of people. He congratulated John Klein for his work with the shelter and said he is amazed at how well it has been rehabilitated. He said it is something of which the City can be proud. F. Council Member Polvorosa said there had been a neighbor who did not want the shelter to move in, but they are very content with it now. He said his wife collects the small bottles of shampoo, etc. , from trips and donates them to the shelter.
