Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - November 2, 1992 Page - 8 - <br /> NEW BUSINESS (continued) <br /> the author of Reinventing Government, would speak at the first meeting <br /> of the Task Force. He said the second meeting would provide an <br /> overview of City Finances and the formation of subcommittees. <br /> Council Member Perry said she will be providing the Task Force with <br /> information from the League of California Cities Statewide "Life After <br /> the State Budget" Committee. <br /> 8. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> None <br /> 9. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> A. Council Member Myers said he attended Council Member Corbett's Town <br /> Hall Meeting. He said Council Member Corbett, the City Manager, and <br /> City staff did an excellent job. He said approximately 50 people <br /> attended, and they had a lot of good input. He congratulated Council <br /> Member Corbett. <br /> B. Council Member Corbett said the Town Hall Meeting was a success and <br /> generated many positive, supportive public comments. She said people <br /> want to be involved in the community, and they were happy to see a Town <br /> Hall Meeting in the North Area. She thanked Best Manor, Broadmoor, and <br /> Estudillo Homeowners Associations, and Denise Kaplan for distributing <br /> fliers. She thanked Kathy Ornelas for all of her help in organizing <br /> the Town Hall Meeting and the Department Heads for attending. <br /> C. Council Member Corbett said the Budget Hot Line is working well . She <br /> said the delivery of the messages by Rick Evans and Kenton Jang is very <br /> good, and people like being able to leave messages. <br /> D. Council Member Corbett complimented the Public Safety employees for <br /> making this a safe Halloween. <br /> E. Council Member Kerr said three members of the City Council attended the <br /> fifth anniversary celebration of the Women's Shelter. He said the <br /> shelter has many success stories and has helped a lot of people. He <br /> congratulated John Klein for his work with the shelter and said he is <br /> amazed at how well it has been rehabilitated. He said it is something <br /> of which the City can be proud. <br /> F. Council Member Polvorosa said there had been a neighbor who did not <br /> want the shelter to move in, but they are very content with it now. He <br /> said his wife collects the small bottles of shampoo, etc. , from trips <br /> and donates them to the shelter. <br />
