Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - December 21, 1992 Page - 13 - <br /> NEW BUSINESS (continued) <br /> H. Fire Department Consolidation., <br /> Minute Order No. 92-82. Fire Department Consolidation. <br /> On motion by Council Member Perry, who moved its approval , seconded by <br /> Council Member Polvorosa, and carried by the following called vote, the <br /> City Council directed staff to work positively with Alameda County on <br /> the matter of consolidation of the San Leandro Fire Department, Eden <br /> Fire Protection District, and the Castro Valley Fire Protection <br /> District. (1125) <br /> AYES: Council Members Faria, Kerr, Myers, Perry, Polvorosa; <br /> Mayor Karp ( 6 ) <br /> NOES: None ( 0 ) <br /> ABSENT: Council Member Corbett ( 1 ) <br /> 8. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> None <br /> 9. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> A. Council Member Myers commended the Task Force for the tremendous job <br /> being done. He said he appreciates their efforts and their work will <br /> benefit the City and the citizens of San Leandro. <br /> B. Council Member Myers wished everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New <br /> Year from himself and his wife. <br /> C. Council Member Kerr wished everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New <br /> Year. <br /> D. Council Member Kerr discussed the shooting at the Greenhouse <br /> Marketplace. He said the woman who was shot did everything right, but <br /> was still shot. He expressed his thanks to the people who provided <br /> information leading to the arrests. He said this matter should be <br /> referred to the Police Department, and some way should be found to beef <br /> up security at Greenhouse. He commended the Police for their quick <br /> work. <br /> E. Mayor Karp demonstrated an audible alarm which can be carried and used <br /> for safety. He noted that Bayfair has beefed up security, and there <br /> are virtually no problems there. He said it would be a good idea to <br /> have staff talk to Greenhouse Marketplace. <br /> Council Member Kerr said the SavMax Grocery Store offers to escort <br /> customers to their cars. <br />
