Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - April 15, 1991 Page - 12 -
PUBLIC HEARINGS (continued)
Robert Leigh, President of Washington Homeowners Association, said he
was the chairman of a citizens' committee regarding this development.
He said the committee met with Homestead and virtually all of their
concerns have been met. He said the initial proposal was a detraction
to the community, but this will be a stimulus to improve the area. He
expressed his appreciation to staff and requested that the City Council
approve the proposal .
Ted Lastiri , Vice President of Mission Bay Mobilehome Owners Association,
said the biggest item of concern was the wall and landscaping adjacent
to the mobilehome park. It was explained that the landscaping on the
mobilehome park side of the wall would be deeded to the mobilehome park.
The City Council noted that the original intention in requiring Homestead
Development to pay toward development of a ball field was to find a ball
field in the general area. Dick Randall , City Manager, said the City
is attempting to find a location in the same area.
Council Member Glaze asked if Phases 4 and 5 of the project could allow
the ball field to remain. The developer said no because grading would
have to be done over the entire project at one time.
Mayor Karp asked if the developer had considered the installation of
burglar alarms or wiring for burglar alarms in the units.
Council Member Perry asked if large-family day cares would be allowed
in this development. Mr. Penaranda indicated the Zoning Code requires
a minimum of 30 feet in street width for large-family day cares and these
streets would be 28 feet, but prospective day-care operators could apply
for a Conditional Use Permit.
There being no further comments from the public, on motion of Council
Member Santos, seconded by Council Member Glaze, and carried unanimously,
both Public Hearings, regarding PD-88-11 and Vesting Tentative Map, Tract
6379, were closed.
The following Resolution was then introduced:
RESOLUTION NO. 91-57 (1009/2676)
RESOLUTION APPROVING VESTING TENTATIVE MAP
TRACT 6379
15225 WICKS BOULEVARD
FORMER MARINA HIGH SCHOOL SITE
Introduced by Council Member Glaze who moved its adoption, seconded by Council
Member Polvorosa and carried by the following called vote:
AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos;
Mayor Karp ( 7 )
NOES: None ( 0 )
ABSENT: None ( 0 )
