Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - April 15, 1991 Page - 4 - <br /> 6. NEW BUSINESS <br /> A. Presentation of Commendation to Pacific Gas & Electric Company in <br /> Appreciation for Their Support of the North Area Improvement Program. <br /> Mayor Karp presented a commendation to Dean Mortensen of PG&E and <br /> commended PG&E on their leadership role in the community. He noted that <br /> PG&E had given $5,500 in construction credits to undergrounding at <br /> MacArthur Boulevard and Durant Street to enhance the new entry features. <br /> He congratulated PG&E for their participation in this public-private <br /> partnership and for their generosity and civic goodwill . <br /> B. Presentation of Proclamation Declaring April 1991 as Fair Housing Month. <br /> Mayor Karp noted this is the 23rd anniversary of the Federal Fair Housing <br /> Law and presented a Proclamation to John Klein, the City's Housing <br /> Coordinator. <br /> C. Motion Regarding Appointment of a San Leandro Partnership for Youth <br /> Safety Committee. <br /> Council Member Glaze said the City Council had received final <br /> recommendations from the City and San Leandro Unified School District <br /> Liaison Committee, which is composed of three City Council Members and <br /> three School Board Members. He noted that the Youth Safety Committee <br /> cannot be everything to everyone. He said the Committee is not intended <br /> to be a solution but an avenue to solutions. He said it does not replace <br /> the authority of the City Council or School Board but will be fact <br /> finding and will be advisory to the City Council and the School Board. <br /> He said that, in establishing the Committee, the City San Leandro Unified <br /> School District Liaison Committee tried to reach as much of the community <br /> as possible. He said they considered all recommendations and requests <br /> that had been received. <br /> He said the recommendation for membership of the Committee was as <br /> follows: <br /> San Leandro City Council Members <br /> Ellen M.Corbett <br /> Robert H. Glaze (Co-Chair) <br /> Linda Perry <br /> San Leandro Unified School District, Board Members <br /> Lois McDonald (Co-Chair) <br /> Wallace McPhee <br /> Marian Wilson <br /> Parents of Students Representatives <br /> Barbara Naylor, San Leandro High School <br /> Greta Velazques, John Muir Junior High School <br /> Syd Sadeghi , Bancroft Junior High School <br /> Ralph Frey, Elementary Schools <br /> San Leandro Unified School District, Student Representatives <br /> Donovan Britt <br /> Emily McCarthy <br /> Mitzi Kato <br />
