She discussed the various programs
available to children at the church and said she has a child in the
program.
Barb Correia, 14554 Sylvia Way, said she has a child in the program.
She said she is a teacher and noted the number of children she has seen
who are simply dropped off before school or have to wait outside after
school . She said this is a necessary program.
Nancy Edson, 332 Marlow Drive, said she is a single parent, and this
is a great program that makes her feel good about the location of her
child.
Gary Calame, 345 Oakes Blvd. , said the quality of the programs the
church provides with the space available is amazing. He said the Board
of Zoning Adjustments conditions related to noise include a requirement
for the church to work cooperatively with the adjacent property owners.
John Provo, 976 Joaquin Ave. , said the solution is for both sides to
work together to achieve quality and a compromise.
There being no further comments by the public, on motion of Council
Member Santos, seconded by Council Member Glaze, and carried
unanimously, the Public Hearing was closed.
Council Member Faria said he likes the idea of a compromise being worked
out between the church and the neighbors. He said there is a need for
day care in San Leandro. He said the Board of Zoning Adjustments
conditions require the services of an acoustical engineer and a six
month review.
