Matter of Civic Center Expansion. <br /> MINUTE ORDER NO. 91-75 (1083) <br /> MATTER OF CIVIC CENTER EXPANSION <br /> On motion by Council Member Faria who moved its approval , seconded by Council <br /> Member Glaze and carried by the following called vote, the City Council directed <br /> staff to proceed with the Civic Center Renovation Project, including the <br /> developer selection recommendation, as described in the staff report dated August <br /> 5, 1991 , and as presented at the August 19, 1991 Work Session. <br /> AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos; <br /> Mayor Karp ( 7 ) <br /> NOES: None ( 0 ) <br /> ABSENT: None ( 0 ) <br /> 8. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> A. Matter of Annual Review of Performance and Quality of Service for Cable <br /> Television Franchise (United Artists Cable TV) . <br /> - Letters from: <br /> - Robert Cooper on Behalf of Louise Cooper, 2243 Heathrow <br /> Place. <br /> - Anonymous <br /> - Robert A. lhler, 2236 Croyden Place. <br /> This being the time and place for the Public Hearing on the above <br /> matter, Mark Adcock, Assistant to the City Manager, explained that this <br /> hearing was an annual opportunity for public comment regarding the <br /> quality of service for the local cable television franchise, with a <br /> cable company representative in attendance. He summarized a report <br /> provided by United Artists and said the report is available for public <br /> viewing in the City Clerk' s office, including a log of cable service <br /> interruption for the past year. He also summarized the cable company's <br /> efforts to advertize this annual review of their services, then <br /> introduced Mr. Tom Lacey, General Manager of United Artists Cable TV. <br /> Mr. Lacey said his company' s report indicates that there have been <br /> significant improvements in the company's service to the community in <br /> the past year, and summarized those improvements. He said the company <br /> completed a system re-build this year, making United Artists one of the <br /> most modern and technologically advanced cable systems in the country, <br /> and reducing service outages. He said the company has added six new <br /> channels to their service. He said customer service statistics have <br /> improved over the past yea. He said over 500 free public service <br /> announcements were broadcast and cable broadcasts have been brought into <br /> the classrooms of the City's schools. He said the Lifeline discount <br /> rate has been implemented for low income residents . <br />
