MINUTES <br /> SAN LEANDRO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> SEPTEMBER 16, 1991 <br /> The City Council of the City of San Leandro met in regular session in the City <br /> Council Chamber of the City Hall on the above date at 8:00 p.m. , Mayor Karp <br /> presiding. <br /> 1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG <br /> 3. ROLL CALL <br /> PRESENT: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos; <br /> Mayor Karp <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> 4. PRESENTATIONS <br /> None Scheduled. <br /> 5. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> A. Mr. Noel , a businessman on East 14th Street, spoke regarding the name <br /> East 14th Street. He said he had relocated his office to East 14th <br /> Street and feels it is detrimental to his business to be associated with <br /> the name East 14th Street. He said his clients have questioned his <br /> judgment in relocating to East 14th Street. He said most people <br /> associate the name East 14th Street with adversity. He said he is also <br /> representing Walter Thompson and Sam Nassa, business owners on East 14th <br /> Street. He suggested the City leave the East 14th Street signs up but <br /> put an additional sign on them reading: Tony Lema Boulevard. <br /> Council Member Perry asked Mr. Noel if he had been notified of the <br /> public meeting on the renaming of East 14th Street. He said he had not <br /> been notified. Council Member Perry explained that, out of 200 people <br /> at the Public Hearing, only 2 had testified in favor of renaming the <br /> street. <br /> Council Member Corbett said Mr. Noel had called her, and she had <br /> explained to him the manner in which property and business owners had <br /> been notified of the public meeting. <br /> Mark Adcock, Assistant to the Assistant City Manager, described the <br /> notification process that was utilized for the public meeting. Mayor <br /> Karp said the meeting had also been announced on the radio, on TV, and <br /> in the newspaper. <br />
