Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - December 2, 1991 Page - 9 - <br /> 9. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> A. None <br /> 10. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> A. Council Member Santos complimented Rick Evans and staff for the work <br /> done on the Shopping Cart Ordinance. He said he felt it was great that <br /> the process resulted in additional savings and said it showed the City <br /> Council is on the right track as far as reducing expenditures. <br /> Mayor Karp noted that a shopping cart had been left right in front of <br /> City Hall over the weekend. <br /> Council Member Corbett said there were a number of shopping carts on <br /> Bancroft Avenue across from Jefferson School . <br /> B. Council Member Polvorosa commended the Recreation Department on the <br /> Thanksgiving Dinner, which was served by the Fire Department and Rotary <br /> Club. He said over 250 seniors had attended and everyone had a good <br /> time. <br /> C. Council Member Perry made the following comments: <br /> -- Noted that she and Paul Zolfarelli had been meeting with the EPA <br /> regarding the clean-up on 139th Avenue, and the findings regarding <br /> the contamination would be issued within the next week. <br /> -- Discussed the ABAG vote. She said she will give all of the City <br /> Council Members a complete copy of the notes. She said there were <br /> nine individual motions. She said the counties, except for Solano <br /> County, were in favor of the proposal . She said ABAG rules <br /> stipulate a majority of cities and counties must be in concurrence. <br /> She said the Tri-Valley Plan was declined, and she said she will <br /> give the City Council a whole package of information on this matter. <br /> -- Noted that ACTEB cities will meet with the current PIC Board to <br /> discuss the current plan, the roles of cities in it, and the <br /> guidelines for cities' input under the SDA plan. <br /> -- Said she and Mayor Karp were judges for the Lighted Boat Parade. <br /> She said she hopes to see this become an annual tradition. <br /> D. Mayor Karp said the Capitol Corridor Train will leave from San Jose for <br /> Sacramento three times a day starting December 11 . He said the entire <br /> City Council had been invited, and he hoped they could attend. He said <br /> the train should help reduce traffic on the freeways. <br />
