r
Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - December 17, 1991 Page - 6 -
NEW BUSINESS (continued)
Mayor Karp said Council Member Glaze had initially said we did not want
this issue to divide the community. Mayor Karp said he had taken those
words literally and had gotten together with the developer to resolve
this matter.
Council Member Santos said the best possible process should be
utilized. He said, in general , when committees are set up, they are
comprised of the same people, and his recommendation would involve
people who are not generally heard from.
C. Matter of Civic Center Specific Plan - Design Development Phase.
Assistant City Manager Mike Oliver explained that the Precise
Development Plan would be coming to the City Council for review in the
near future, but approval was requested to proceed with the design-
development phase of the project. He said if the City Council wished
to construct the expansion in the Summer of 1992, it was important to
begin the design-development phase now. He said waiting the additional
month it would take for Precise Development approval could throw the
project off schedule. He said funds were already budgeted for this
phase.
The following Motion was then introduced:
MINUTE ORDER NO. 91-112 (1083)
CIVIC CENTER SPECIFIC PLAN
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT PHASE
On motion by Council Member Corbett, who moved its approval , seconded by Council
Member Faria, and carried by the following called vote, the City Council
authorized the expenditure of approximately $89,000 in design development costs
for the project and authorized staff to proceed with the design development
phase.
AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos;
Mayor Karp ( 7 )
NOES: None ( 0 )
ABSENT: None ( 0 )
8.
