• • <br /> • <br /> Subsection D: Sick Leave <br /> 1. Accrual: Sick leave shall accrue at the rate of 10.7 hours per month. <br /> 2. Transition of Sick Leave Time: Fire Department Secretary II sick leave <br /> balance on the City's books as of the effective date shall be carried over to the ACFD. <br /> The maximum accrual for non-shift employees is 1286 hours. Upon reaching the <br /> maximum accrual, sick leave converts to vacation days at the rate of five sick days <br /> to one vacation day. <br /> Subsection E: Retirement <br /> 1. Public Employees Retirement System (PERS): Upon the effective date, Fire <br /> Employee shall be enrolled in the County's PERS, retirement program, pursuant to <br /> the contract between the District and PERS. It is understood that the contract <br /> between the District and PERS provides the following benefits: <br /> a. Two percent (2%) at 60 (Government Code 21251.13) <br /> b. Credit for Unused Sick Leave (Government Code 20862.8) <br /> c. 1959 Survivor Benefits (Government Code 21382.4) <br /> 2. Transition of Retirement Medical Insurance: Fire Employee retiring from the <br /> ACFD after the effective date may select one of the following options for retirement <br /> medical insurance subject to the provisions specified in this section: <br /> a. The retiring Fire Employee and eligible dependent(s) may enroll in the <br /> ACFD's PERS medical retirement program pursuant to that program's rules and <br /> regulations, at the employer contribution rate in effect at the date of retirement <br /> which shall be paid by the ACFD; or <br /> b. The retiring Fire Employee and eligible dependent(s) may.re-enroll in <br /> the San Leandro retirement medical plan he/she was formerly enrolled in, subject to <br /> the approval of the medical insurance carrier, at the City's contribution rate in effect <br /> for retirees of the SLCEA as of the date of retirement, and may remain enrolled until <br /> age sixty-five or eligible for Medicare coverage, whichever occurs first. <br /> The ACFD shall pay the premium for such insurance plan up to the dollar <br /> amount it would pay if the employee had selected option (a) and the City shall pay <br /> premium in excess of such amount. Fire employee selecting option 2(a) will not be <br /> eligible to enroll in the city's retirement plan at a later date. <br /> 3. Termination of Retirement Medical Transition Provision: The retirement <br /> option described in Section E(2)(a) and (b) shall remain in effect until: <br /> a. The ACFD employer contribution rate for retiree medical insurance <br /> equals the two party rate of the Kaiser North premium in the PERS medical plan; <br /> 3 <br />
