Summary
Set aside funds to be used for minor dredging of the berth and non-federal channel area high spots on a cycle to be
determined.
Description
Set aside funds for be used for minor dredging of the berth and non-federal channel area high spots on a cycle to be
determined.
Justification or Benefit of Project
Periodic dredging is required to keep the harbor open. The harbor was last dredged in 1997, and silting has
occurred since then limiting access to the fuel dock and making some of the best berths unavailable for rent.
Consequences of not doing the Project
Larger boats, which have the highest demand for berthing space, cannot be accommodated in our premium concrete
berths along the western perimeter. This is a loss in revenue to the City as the boats go elsewhere to dock. As the
harbor continues to silt up, fewer boats will dock in San Leandro, further driving down occupancy and revenue.
Project Numb 2003.0080Project Typ Marina and Shoreline
Detailed Cost $1,200,000 Status Retired
Department/Sponsor Public Works
Impact to Operation Cost Impact to Maintenance Cost
Likely Cost
Categor
Project Name Non-Federal Harbor Maintenance Dredging
195
