Miscellaneous <br /> <br />45.1 Flexible Work Schedules <br /> <br /> When operationally appropriate and determined to be in the best interest of the City, <br />departments may establish flexible work schedules. Establishment of such <br />schedules shall be in the sole discretion of the department head with the approval <br />of the City Manager. <br /> <br />45.2 Probationary Period <br /> <br /> Personnel Rule IX is amended as follows: <br /> <br /> The probationary period for Public Safety Dispatchers is eighteen (18) months. <br /> <br />45.3. Tuition Reimbursement <br /> <br /> The Tuition Reimbursement Program is incorporated herein by reference. The <br />maximum tuition reimbursement benefit under the program is one thousand five <br />hundred dollars ($1,500.00) per employee per fiscal year. <br /> <br /> A full-time employee who has completed their probationary period must submit a <br />Tuition Reimbursement Request and receive prior approval through their <br />Supervisor, Department Director, Human Resources Director and City Manager <br />prior to enrolling in a recognized college, university or professional institution. <br />College courses, to be eligible for reimbursement, must be related to an employee’s <br />area of employment. It is understood by the parties that classes taken as <br />prerequisites to an approved course of study are covered by this Tuition <br />Reimbursement Program, as are courses taken in preparation for an employee’s job <br />advancement within the City. A written explanation will be provided to any employee <br />denied tuition reimbursement. <br /> <br /> Reimbursement is only made if an employee successfully completes their <br />coursework with a grade of C or better. Eligible items for reimbursements are tuition <br />and course-related book expenses. <br /> <br />45.4 Domestic Partners <br /> <br />Domestic partners of City employees registered with the State of California shall be <br />afforded group health coverage eligibility and leave of absence rights to the extent <br />required by law. No additional group health coverage eligibility or leave of absence <br />rights shall be provided to domestic partners of City employees. <br />
