Neighborhood Outreach Summary
Attachment D
September 22, 2002
Executive Summary of the Neighborhood Outreach Meeting
San Leandro Library
September 19, 2002
Participants:
Neighbors: Carole Rinaldi, Marina Faire Homeowners Association
Larry Norry, Mulford Gardens Improvement Association
John Manuel, Marina Action Committee
Harold Perez, Vestal Court
Wafaa Aborashed, Davis West Neighborhood Group
Staff: Debbie Pollart, Planner, City of San Leandro
Keith Cooke, Engineering & Transportation, City of San Leandro
Uche Udemezue, Engineering & Transportation, City of San Leandro
Applicant: Russ Pierce, McMahon Development Group
Facilitator: Roseann Sullivan, Sullivan Communications
The goal of the meeting was to give neighborhood leaders direct access to ask questions
and discuss their concerns with the developer of the proposed Bayside Business Park. Russ
Pierce assured the neighbors that he is a direct representative of his firm and that he has the
authority to address reasonable changes to suggested conditions of approval by the City.
Neizhborhood Concerns:
Traffic
Safety: Neighbors are concerned that Davis Street itself is a dangerous street. There is great
concern for residents who walk, particularly near Westgate Mall.
Residents would like to encourage trucks to use 98th Avenue or Eden Road. The opening
of Eden Road is desired by all, yet since it requires the use of eminent domain, it will probably
be some time before it can be accomplished.
Congestion: Neighbors are concerned that the construction at Westgate and the
Davis/Doolittle improvements will be taking place at the same time and thereby further
impacting Davis Street traffic.
The City has control over the stages of the construction at Westgate. They can stage the
work in such a way that it does not conflict with the Davis/Doolittle improvements.
SUL L I V A_N
Call Toll Free: 888.SPEAK.2U
ZI Z commacniccrti o.ns
Email:Sullivan@SullivanCommunications.com
Page 1 of 5
